In The Dark Alleys | Sat, Aug 10, 2013

"I guess it wasn't really meant to be," he told himself. The wind blows over his frail body as he pass by the deserted street. Memories flood his thoughts while aimlessly he walk in the night, wondering how things ended up the way they are right now. "Was it wrong to feel deep affection towards someone?" he asked. The cold night's response is nothing but silence. The universe has already spoken and it appears that it doesn't fancy repeating itself. "Well, this sucks," he exclaimed. "Some people really can't get what they deserve, but perhaps things just happen in random. Maybe all of these are just strings of random events woven without any clear intentions at all. If there's any divine existence behind these, that he or she must have a very awful sense of humour." He continued wandering the dark alleys as if inviting the danger of the city to approach him. "Let the hazards come, sometimes it can be the sweetest thing that can happen," he whispered, and just as if the mischievous fate heard him, out of the dark, two shadows appeared, next thing he knew is he's now tasting his own blood, his flesh torn by a steel blade and all he can hear is the mockery of his aggressors. "Laugh, you sons of bitches, you're doing me a favour," he told himself. Unlike what others say, his life didn't flash back, no hallucinations, nothing fancy really. He didn't see any bright lights inviting him, on the contrary, just plain darkness and excruciating pain took over his mortal body. He smiled, for the first time in years it wasn't a face he's putting up. This is the joy he found in flipping the final pages of somewhat not very entertaining story. He's happy, that he's sure of.
